Hoodia Gordonii Potency Claims
Be Aware of what Hoodia Gordonii you are buying!
Several products out on the market claim to have the most potent Hoodia available. What these companies are not adding to that claim is how they created their formula. Did they use the entire plant? Have they added the root? For more information on this, visit our Different Forms of Hoodia page.
What does 20:1 Mean?
Taking 20 parts of wet herb (the raw plant) - and using " low heat" or " air pressure" (or both) to make it into 1 part of DRY herb. This is done for two main reasons. One is to have a purer dry product, and the other is that this particular process eliminates a lot of "useless" fiber along with the water, giving you a better dried Hoodia powder.
The method for any standard extraction for increasing potency to any ratio - as in a 20:1 involves the following:
- Get the complete dry product - then "CONCENTRATE" it. This means that you add 20 times product weight to 1/20th part of solvent.
- Dissolve solid in solvent so physics forces make fine dry powdered hoodia.
- Then use heat and pressure to dissolve it into a solvent.
- Finally evaporate the solvent - till you get 20 times dry product into 1 part wet solvent
